The downstairs bedroom

First off.....Wow, thank you SO much for taking the time out of your day to stop by our little corner of the internet world.  Whether it be instagram or here on this we are so humbled and thankful you are here.

I hate even calling this a "blog", because it will not be taken care of like it should, but will mostly serve as a resource page for things around the house.

So here goes.

We decided to start with the downstairs bedroom because the few pictures we have of the renovations are on the big computer, not my phone.

When we moved in.....

it wasn't bad at all and we didn't start out to do all the work we did, but when you find the original plank walls underneath layers and layers of stuff, you roll with it.

A few progress shots...... We basically took down the boards one by one, sanded them, insulated then put them back up.  We left the rafters exposed on the ceiling so that made it feel a little taller.

Side note: the second picture down you will see white at the bottom of the wall......that is the paneling that was in the first picture.  that is how we nailed the planks back on the walls.

Here she is today.....She may be a little small, but could not be happier how she turned out.

  1. This is so adorable! We live in a cottage too and the rooms are pretty small, but it's so cozy and it'll be great to get inspiration from here! Hope you keep up with the blogging!

  2. I'm so excited that you will be showing us some of the rooms in your lovely cottage. Your bedroom is beautiful...love that you exposed the original plank boards. Thank you for sharing the details with us. My husband and I are continually working on our farmhouse, and your instagram (and now your blog) have been a great inspiration.

  3. Looks good. You put a lot of work into a little room! Very admirable. I have an old house too. First World problem: it's too big! Argh! So much work. So, it's for sale. #giveup
We do Airbnb and it helps with keeping it clean and our spirits up. A cute house like hours would probably do well!!
People LOVE cute, old, country-type houses. If just to visit. We are in Oxford, PA. (don't mean as spam or selling on your bog).
    Any way. Well done!
